Thinking Global Acting Local for Child and Adolescent Mental Health

The 2nd Conference of the Child & Adolescent Mental Health Initiative (CAMHI) held on February 27th at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC). The event brought together experts, educators, caregivers, and youth to discuss CAMHI’s progress and next steps in addressing child and adolescent mental health challenges.

Key discussions focused on mental health infrastructure, literacy in schools, early detection, caregiver support, and child protection. A keynote panel featuring Andreas Dracopoulos (SNF), Harold Koplewicz (Child Mind Institute), and Marios Themistocleous (Deputy Minister of Health) highlighted CAMHI’s public-private partnership model.

Other sessions explored the role of pediatricians, media influence on mental health dialogue, and CAMHI’s evidence-based programs and resources. The Youth Engagement Scheme (YES) is showcased as a model for integrating youth voices into mental health solutions.

Dr. Syed Usman Hamdani presented “Data-Driven Strategies To Improve Access To Mental Health Services in Under-Resourced Settings” at the conference.

The conference aims to foster collaboration and drive global efforts in advancing child and adolescent mental health.
